Former Arch Enemy singer Alissa White-Gluz recently addressed confusion surrounding her new band Blue Medusa. She clarified its relationship to her solo project in a statement shared on Louder Sound.

The statement focused on distinguishing between her new band Blue Medusa and her anticipated solo project for which she signed a recording deal in 2016.

“Just to be clear, the deal I signed in 2016 was for a solo album and Blue Medusa is something else – it’s a band,” White-Gluz said.

She went on to explain her vision for the solo project and how it differs from her band work.

“The solo project – Alissa – my goal with that is to give back to all the people I have collaborated with over the years,” she continued. “I’ve done something like over 50 collaborations over the years, so many! So for a long time it was like, ‘Man, I am appearing on a lot of people’s albums. What if they appeared on my album?'”

White-Gluz also discussed her desire to work with artists who inspire her and the creative freedom she seeks with her solo work.

“There’s also people that I just absolutely love who are a huge inspiration to me who I would really, really want to create with – like Brody Dalle of The Distillers,” she said. “I can’t go and create a whole band with all of these people – much as I’d like to – so the solo project remains a place where I want to have the freedom to do whatever feels good. My music taste is not narrow; I like a lot of different things. Black metal, Queen, Muse… I want to be able to be eclectic with it.”

This clarification comes as fans await both her solo debut and developments with Blue Medusa. It marks a significant transition in the vocalist’s career following her departure from one of metal’s most prominent bands.

White-Gluz’s announcement follows her recent debut solo single release. Louder Sound reported that her debut solo single “The Room Where She Died” was released on November 23, 2025. The track was co-written with Oliver Palotai of Kamelot, setting an eclectic tone for the project.

The timing of these announcements coincides with her departure from Arch Enemy after an 11-year tenure. The Rock Revival noted that White-Gluz fronted Arch Enemy starting in 2014, succeeding Angela Gossow and appearing on their last four albums, including the well-received “War Eternal.” Her departure from the band was announced the same day as her solo single’s release.

During her time with Arch Enemy, White-Gluz helped propel the band to new heights of success. Female Fronted Power highlighted that White-Gluz was at the forefront of Arch Enemy’s most successful years in the band’s history. She expanded their global audience and performed on the world’s biggest stages.

The vocalist’s career trajectory began long before her Arch Enemy days, having made her debut with The Agonist in 2007. Her extensive collaboration history, which she references in her statement about working with over 50 artists, demonstrates her versatility and connections within the metal community. This positions her well for both her solo endeavors and the new Blue Medusa project.
