Eddie Van Halen’s widow, Janie, experienced the loss of another family member, her father, as she revealed in a recent Instagram post.

She shared photos of her late father and wrote the following:

“Rest in peace, Dad. I love you and will miss you. You held on for 4 days and made it through surgery yesterday, but in a cruel twist of fate and questionable circumstances, you left us last night. Fly high, Dad, and be free. 1/3/51 – 12/26/23.”

The Loss of A Beloved Pet

Not long ago, Janie had announced on Instagram that their beloved dog, Kody, had died. Kody was one of Janie’s last links to her late husband. She said goodbye to the dog she shared with Eddie, writing:

“Sweet dreams, my baby bear. Thank you for being the light of my life for 13 years. You brought us and everyone who met you joy, love, and happiness. My heart is absolutely broken, but I know you are at peace and in heaven with Daddy and I know that he will take good care of you. Until we see each other again. Mommy loves her sweetest little boy in the whole wide world.”

A Series Of Losses For Janie

She posted photos of Kody with Eddie, showing their last happy times together. Before Van Halen died in October 2020 from throat cancer, Janie had already lost her brother Tom in June and her mom in November of that year, just two months after Eddie. Each loss deeply affected her, especially Eddie’s, her husband of 11 years, to which she responded with an emotional post on social media, saying:

“My husband, my love, my Peep. My heart and soul have been shattered into a million pieces. I never knew it was possible to cry so many tears or feel such incredible sadness. Our journey together has not always been an easy one, but in the end and always we have a connection and love that will always be. Saying goodbye is the hardest thing I have ever had to do, so instead, I say so long; I will see you again soon in a place with no pain or sorrow. Please watch over Kody and I. We love you and miss you so very much.”

Janie had also shared a post on Instagram for Mother’s Day. In it, she expressed that while she deeply misses her mother, who had passed away six months ago, she finds comfort in believing her mother is not alone and is now with Eddie and her brother Tom.
