David Coverdale has released his final work with Whitesnake, marking the end of an era for the legendary rock band. The announcement was shared on Whitesnake’s official Instagram, where the band confirmed this would be their last release.

The official statement from Whitesnake read: “Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Brothers and Sisters Of The SNAKE…This Is It! The Last and Final Video From WHITESNAKE! Forevermore (DC & Hook City Strings – Official Video 2025 Remix).”

Fans have responded with heartfelt messages celebrating Coverdale’s decades-long career. One longtime supporter wrote, “What a great arrangement and goodbye, you have been a big part of my life since the early Deep Purple days right through all the Whitesnake lineups, work with Jimmy Page and solo bits. Although you are calling it a day for which nobody can blame you your music will continue to keep me company and bring me joy.”

Another fan praised the farewell, saying, “This, sir, is a proper farewell. Thank you so much for all these years of pure, genuine rocknroll.”

A third commenter reflected on the peaceful nature of Coverdale’s retirement, writing, “I wish they could all say goodbye like this! Without tragic, unfortunate losses! With brightness and gratitude, like the great, peaceful white snakes of youthful dreams and hopes! Thank you, David!”

This retirement announcement represents the definitive close of one of rock music’s most storied chapters. David Coverdale announced his retirement from rock music in November 2025 after more than 50 years in the industry, according to Fox News. This announcement effectively marks the end of Whitesnake as an active band with no immediate plans to continue under his leadership or with a replacement singer confirmed.

In his retirement announcement, Coverdale shared a heartfelt message expressing gratitude to fans, band members, crew, and family. Guitar World reported that Coverdale stated it was time to “hang up my rock ‘n’ roll platform shoes and my skintight jeans” and enjoy retirement. He humorously reflected on aging and stepping away from the stage.

Whitesnake’s final live performance took place in 2022, with health issues playing a significant role in the band’s earlier decisions. Ultimate Classic Rock noted that Coverdale’s health challenges forced the band to cut short their 2022 farewell tour. Their last show was performed at France’s Hellfest in 2022. This retirement announcement in late 2025 now closes the chapter definitively on the band’s future.

Coverdale’s legacy extends far beyond Whitesnake alone. His career includes his influential time with Deep Purple, the formation and international success of Whitesnake, and notable collaborations such as the Coverdale–Page album with Jimmy Page. The retirement marks the end of a major era in classic rock, closing Whitesnake’s active presence in live music and studio recordings after decades of shaping the rock genre.
