The Kinks fans might be able to hear new music soon. In a recent interview with X101, Dave Davies disclosed the details about the possible upcoming Kinks music and what caused him to give the green light to his brother and bandmate, Ray Davies, about new music.

Apparently, there were songs that had been shelved for a particular time until they were played by Davies’ brother. So, is there any new music coming? He explained:

“I don’t know, but me and Ray played on tracks that’ve been sitting around, that we didn’t quite finish and are too good to just shelve, so it’s very possible.”

Kinks is Celebrating 60th Anniversary

The Kinks are currently commemorating their 60th anniversary with a two-year celebration, marked by the release of two box sets: ‘The Journey — Part 1,’ launched in March, and ‘The Journey — Part 2,’ which has been released recently.

Songs like ‘Lincoln County,’ along with ‘God’s Children’ make it on Part 2 of the sets.

The sets include Kinks hits and ‘non-hits,’ deep cuts, and it seems that Dave Davies is quite pleased with the way the sets turned out. But that is not just it. The sets also include B-sides and new unreleased music. Discussing the earlier recorded unreleased songs, Davies said:

“I don’t know if they’ll ever see the light of day, but over the years, I’ve become less critical. Songs have foibles and weird sh*t, and I think it’s all important aspects of recording. We’ve been doing it for so long it’s kinda nice to hear the nuances.”

So, it’s possible for the fans to have new music sooner or later, perhaps sooner.
