Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds and Aja Volkman have finalized their divorce nearly a year after the initial filing.
The couple has settled their differences and reached an agreement regarding their property and the custody of their children, seeking judicial approval to formalize the arrangement. Notably, Volkman has requested the court to eliminate any spousal support to the singer. This agreement was mutually notarized on November 15, 2023, indicating both parties’ consent to the terms laid out.
Reynolds and Volkman, who initially wed in 2011, have experienced a tumultuous relationship, with periods of separation followed by reconciliations. Despite these challenges, they have attempted to navigate their issues. Their journey together has been publicly documented, from their marriage to their decision to part ways officially in September 2022, with Volkman filing for divorce in April of the following year in Los Angeles.
Navigating Separation Publicly
Later, Dan reflected on the personal toll of the divorce during an interview on the Howard Stern Show, discussing the complexities of ending a relationship that many had invested in emotionally. He noted:
“I mean people invest in it too, like so all your friends invest in it, your family invests in it. And the notion of having to be public about something sucks too. Like, why do you have to but kind of do in this position because your life is that’s what would you sign up for.”
Aja Volkman’s Perspective
In April 2023, Volkman also opened up about the divorce process in an Instagram post, discussing the challenges of managing their separation in the public eye. She emphasized the couple’s commitment to their children and their desire to handle their split with dignity without delving into the specifics of their marital issues. She wrote:
“However, I have never spoken about the details of our marriage or, separation, or divorce. I don’t intend to. We have four amazing children and a lot of passionate music, all created and inspired by a divine connection. Neither of us are perfect people, and we both have made many mistakes, but we have also both done what are evolution permits as our best.”
Since breaking up, Reynolds has started dating actress Minka Kelly. In November 2022, they were seen having a long dinner in Los Angeles, and by March 2023, they were spotted kissing while Reynolds helped with her luggage.
