Courtney Love’s Reaction To Nirvana Reunion Rumors With Her As Lead Singer

Formed in 1987 by Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic, Nirvana is noted for popularizing alternative rock and giving a voice to their generation. They established themselves as part of the Seattle grunge scene throughout their successful music career. Particularly after their classic hit album ‘Nevermind,’ they carved the band’s name to rock history. Thus, the band’s music continues to influence numerous musicians even today.

During his tenure with Nirvana, the band’s frontman Kurt Cobain had a tumultuous relationship with his wife, Courtney Love. He was abusing drugs with her, and their relationship issues didn’t exactly help the musician’s depression. Sadly, on April 5, 1994, Cobain took his own life. Following his suicide, Nirvana decided to split. However, there were rumors that Courtney Love would be reuniting with Nirvana as their lead singer.

What Did Courtney Love Say About Playing With Nirvana?

Although there has been a long-time feud between Courtney Love and Dave Grohl, some sources argued that Courtney Love would be joining Nirvana for a reunion in 2014. Besides that, Love also had legal disputes with Novoselic over using Nirvana’s music catalog since 2001. Still, many claimed this hypothetical reunion would be an olive branch between the two parties.

In an interview with Telegraph in 2014, Courtney Love addressed these remarks and revealed whether they were true. She looked at the news article ‘Nirvana To Reunite With Courtney Love As Singer’ and said this is nonsense. After some while, it turned out that this was just an April Fools prank.

Speaking to the Telegraph, Courtney Love said the following about the rumors:

“‘Nirvana to reunite with Courtney Love as their singer.’ Yeah, that’ll be the day. It’s just nonsense.

So, it seems Courtney Love wasn’t aware that this was an April Fools prank. However, this allowed Love to clear the air about whether she would do any projects with the remaining members of Nirvana. After all, the band never reunited with a different singer, even if that vocalist was the widow of Kurt Cobain.
