A recent event featuring Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor left the singer emotional as he shared his struggles with mental health and promised his fans that he would always be there for them.
The moment happened during a question-and-answer session with fan-submitted questions during an event at Pryzm nightclub in Kingston, celebrating the release of his new solo album ‘CMF2.’ At one point in the Q&A, Taylor got emotional while opening up about his mental health struggles.
The moment was recorded by a few fans. In one of the videos, the frontman is seen tearing up while sharing with the audience:
“I want you to know something. For the longest time, I didn’t have a lot of reasons in my heart to live, but as my life has gone on, and you guys have been there for me, you have no idea…”
Later in the discussion, Taylor promised his fans that he would always be there for them:
“I promise you this. I promise you this, as long as you are here, I will always be here for you.”
The frontman then was asked what advice he would give to his younger self, to which he replied with the following:
“Honestly, I would tell… and this is true, I would tell my 18-year-old self that it’s going to be okay because no one ever f*cking told me that. And anyone who needs to hear that right now, listen to me. It is going to be okay, no matter what is going on; it is all temporary. And you can get through it because you’re f*cking stronger than you goddamn think.”
Taylor has been publicly open about his mental health struggles. In an earlier interview, the frontman revealed that he still can’t cope with his emotions when it comes to depression, and he ‘can’t keep it together half the time.’
He also shared that writing and singing helped him feel better throughout his career and that it was a way for him to get a handle on his emotions without losing his mind.
