In a recent Instagram post, Eric Clapton’s daughter Ruth Clapton mesmerized her followers by covering a new song by John Mayer.
Back in May 2021, Ruth revealed that she will start taking guitar lessons. The reason behind her decision wasn’t just to learn to play the guitar like her Eric but to make it easier for her to write new songs and follow her father’s footsteps in songwriting too.
Since then, she has been uploading lots of musical content on her Instagram account. Additionally, Ruth has been sharing lots of pictures from the rehearsals she has been attending in which you can see that she is singing.
In her recently shared video, Ruth covered ‘Shot In The Dark’ song featured in John Mayer’s newest album, ‘Sob Rock,’ and captivated her followers with her soft and beautiful voice. Furthermore, she also revealed her opinion about this song in the caption.
While Ruth said that ‘Shot In The Dark’ is one of her favorite tracks from the ‘Sob Rock’ album, she also showed her respect for the musician and pointed out that she is ‘still crushing on John Mayer.’
However, this wasn’t the only cover she did from John Mayer. Earlier in June, Ruth also covered Mayer’s ‘New Light’ song and said that she is singing the song only for Mayer. Later on, Ruth also mentioned that she was doing it just to get noticed by her crush.
‘Sob Rock’ is the eighth studio album of John Mayer that was released about ten days ago. The recording features five singles including ‘New Light,’ ‘Last Train Home,’ and ‘Shot In The Dark.’ Also, it peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 charts.
