Bob Daisley recently addressed speculation about Ritchie Blackmore’s current situation. He shared his perspective on the legendary guitarist’s status in an interview with Artists on Record with Stefan Adika.
Daisley discussed his current relationship with Blackmore and what he knows about the guitarist’s recent circumstances.
“I’m not in touch with Ritchie anymore,” Daisley said. “My manager, he is, because my manager handles the Deep Purple stuff in Australia. He has a company called DPO, Deep Purple overseas. So, he is in touch with Ritchie from time to time.”
The bassist also revealed concerns about Blackmore’s health and current lifestyle.
“And I know Ritchie had some terrible back problems,” he continued. “He had problems with his back and I don’t know if he’s gone into hibernation and he’s become a recluse or what. But I really I don’t know. I hope he’s all right.”
Daisley’s comments fuel speculation about Blackmore’s withdrawal from public life. However, recent evidence suggests the legendary guitarist remains musically active despite his health challenges.
Blackmore continues to perform with his Renaissance-inspired band throughout 2025, contrary to rumors of complete seclusion. The Blackmore’s Night official website shows that the group maintains an active touring schedule across the United States and Europe. This indicates that the guitarist has not completely retreated from the music scene.
Bethel Woods Center for the Arts reported that Blackmore’s Night performances often feature charitable elements. The band supports local no-kill animal shelters by inviting them to set up donation tables at concerts. This reflects both Blackmore and his wife Candice’s commitment to animal welfare causes.
The guitarist’s current lifestyle appears to balance musical pursuits with a quieter existence. Various interviews revealed that Blackmore leads a relatively tranquil life in a countryside home on Long Island, New York. He finds inspiration in nature and history for his work with Blackmore’s Night.
Blackmore maintains some level of musical activity. However, his reduced public presence and Daisley’s concerns about his health issues suggest the guitarist may indeed be living a more secluded lifestyle than in his earlier career years. The comments provide valuable insight into the current status of one of rock’s most influential guitarists.
