Former Iron Maiden vocalist Blaze Bayley has spoken about the possibility of attending the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on the band’s behalf. He discussed the matter in an interview on the Denim And Leather podcast.

Bayley addressed the situation after Iron Maiden confirmed they would be unable to attend the ceremony due to a scheduling conflict with their ongoing tour. He revealed that he is actively exploring whether he can make it to the event.

“[Iron Maiden] had a tour booked [during the time that the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled to take place],” Bayley said.

He went on to share his personal plans regarding the ceremony.

“At the moment, I have some free days [in November]. So I’m trying to work it out that I get there for the ceremony. I don’t know yet,” he continued.

The ceremony is set for November 14, 2026, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Iron Maiden’s scheduling conflict is as tight as it gets — the band is booked to perform in Sydney on November 13 and Melbourne on November 15 as part of their Run For Your Lives Tour, leaving no viable window to travel to Los Angeles for the event. The ceremony will be taped and later broadcast on ABC and Disney+ in December 2026.

Iron Maiden’s manager Rod Smallwood addressed the band’s absence directly, making clear that the decision was rooted in the band’s long-standing commitment to their fanbase. “In accepting, Iron Maiden made it very clear to the R&R HoF that the fans always come first and that the shows will of course go on,” Smallwood stated. He added that Australian and New Zealand fans could rest assured their shows would remain unaffected. The Run For Your Lives Tour marks the penultimate stop of the band’s 50th-anniversary celebrations.

The 2026 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction class is a stacked one. Iron Maiden joins Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross, and Wu-Tang Clan as this year’s honorees. Iron Maiden is the only major inductee confirmed to be absent from the ceremony due to touring commitments.

Bayley served as Iron Maiden’s lead singer from 1994 to 1999, stepping in after Bruce Dickinson’s initial departure from the band. During his tenure, he recorded two studio albums with the group — The X Factor in 1995 and Virtual XI in 1998. He was officially included in the 2026 Rock Hall inductee lineup for Iron Maiden, having been added to the list of inducted members several weeks after the initial nominations were announced.

The full list of Iron Maiden members inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame includes Bayley alongside Bruce Dickinson, Steve Harris, Nicko McBrain, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, Janick Gers, Clive Burr, Paul Di’Anno, and Dennis Stratton. Whether Bayley ultimately makes it to Los Angeles to accept the honor in person remains to be seen. His willingness to step up in the band’s absence speaks to the enduring significance of the occasion.
