Bad Wolves have announced their new singer Sara ‘Killboy’ Skinner. Revolver premiered the music video for her debut single with the band, “Paint It Red,” alongside an exclusive first interview with Skinner in her new role as the band’s frontperson.
“This is not a drill: Bad Wolves have a new singer Sara ‘Killboy’ Skinner, and Revolver has the world premiere of the music video for ‘Paint It Red’ — her debut song as the band’s frontperson — plus the exclusive first interview with her in that role,” Revolver reported.
Skinner opened up about the whirlwind experience of joining the band, describing it as both thrilling and overwhelming.
“It does feel like I’m totally starting over. It’s very scary, and it’s very exciting,” Skinner said. “John Boecklin, Bad Wolves drummer, got off the phone with me and booked me a flight to L.A., and I was in EastWest studios the very next day. People were coming in — the dude from Volumes, the dude from Animals as Leaders — and they’re shaking my hand, saying, ‘So, you’re the new Bad Wolves singer,’ and I’m like, ‘I don’t know!’ John said that over the phone, and here I am, but I was freaking out.”
Skinner also shared details about the recording process and a track she is particularly excited about from the upcoming album.
“They had already been working on songs for a long time, so they had me start cutting songs that they had already made,” she continued. “One of the songs that will be on the album is called ‘Drag Me Through Hell,’ and it’s the most beautiful song ever. That’s when I got really excited. It’s actually an acoustic song, and it doesn’t make a lot of sense for the album, but it’s the one I’m most excited about. [Laughs] I got really excited for the potential of where things could go.”
“Paint It Red” marks Skinner’s official debut as Bad Wolves’ frontperson. A full album is expected to follow.
Skinner brings a distinctly unconventional background to the role. Known under her stage name KILLBOY, she built her career largely in the electronic music world, developing a sound rooted in trap, punk, and electro-pop as a fully independent artist, singer, songwriter, and producer from Texarkana, Texas.
Her reach in that space has been considerable. Her collaboration with Subtact on “Dreams Pt. II” surpassed 100 million streams on the NoCopyrightSounds YouTube channel. She also made her first major label-adjacent appearance as the featured vocalist on Pixel Terror’s “Contra,” released in September 2018 through Monstercat.
What makes Skinner’s trajectory even more striking is that she kept her two identities deliberately separate for years. When she launched KILLBOY, she was advised never to reveal that she was Sara Skinner, and she followed that guidance — producing both projects entirely on her own, without outside help, and without publicly connecting the two names.
“When I started Killboy, I was advised to never tell anybody I was Sara Skinner,” she said. “I also produced both tracks entirely myself. I’m a fully independent artist and I’ve learned everything I know on my own.”
Bad Wolves have navigated significant change in recent years, going through multiple lineup shifts before landing on Skinner as their permanent frontperson. “Paint It Red” serves as the lead single for their forthcoming album, which is expected to arrive in late 2026. Additional singles are anticipated in the months ahead as the band builds toward the full release.
