In a new conversation with Indie Power TV, Bob Daisley talked about being left out of Ozzy Osbourne’s last concert with Black Sabbath.
“To be honest with you, I don’t think I’d wanna be a part of that that day,” the bassist explained. “It’ll be awkward, but it could turn out as an embarrassment as well, but we’ll see. We’ll see.”
“I didn’t expect [to get a mention],” Bob said, referring to not getting a mention when Osbourne joined the Rock Hall last October. “I knew that was coming, because there’s been some dirty water gone under the bridge between us — there’s been lawsuits and legal issues and that — so I was not surprised when I didn’t get a mention.”
Daisley added, “Many people thought that it was wrong and that I should have got a mention. But I really didn’t expect it, so I wasn’t surprised.”
Black Sabbath will play their final show on July 5 in Birmingham. Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward will reunite for one last time. The concert, called ‘Back to the Beginning,’ will raise money for charity.
Osbourne said in a statement, “It’s my time to go ‘Back to the Beginning’… time for me to give back to the place where I was born. How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham forever.”
Iommi reacted to the reunion, writing on X, “It’s been an incredible journey, but it’s only fitting that it ends here, where it all began in Aston. It’s great to be honoured by your fellow musicians and at the same time support good causes. None of this would’ve been possible without Ozzy, Geezer, and Bill. What we created together was bigger than any one of us, and I’ll always be grateful for that. Tony.”
Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, and other metal bands will perform. There will also be a special tribute with Billy Corgan, Tom Morello, Fred Durst, and more. Morello will be the musical director.
