Andy Taylor Is Set To Play On New Duran Duran Record Despite Illness

According to recent news in The Mirror, during his Unforgettable Evening speech, John Taylor announced that Duran Duran would begin recording a new project with Andy Taylor. He expressed hope for the upcoming record, which will be their first in decades.

Years ago, Andy Taylor was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer and was absent from last year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony because of it. This was revealed in a letter sent by him to be read by Simon Le Bon at the show. While battling his terminal illness, the guitarist had to keep his distance from the music industry, which prevented the band members from working together on new material until this year, as reported by John Taylor.

According to the bassist’s last speech, Le Bon headed to Ibiza to meet with the guitarist to start the recording process  after ’10 to 20 years.’ He expressed his desire to join them and stated that the upcoming project would be great since it would be a profound experience for everyone involved.

His words on the matter were as follows:

“Le Bon is flying to Ibiza to work with Andy. I kind of wish I was there. I think it’ll be great. It’ll be really profound for them. They haven’t been in the studio together in maybe 10 to 20 years.”

John Taylor did not reveal whether this comeback would be featured in their documentary when he was asked about it. However, he made a short comment about the topic with a slight implication.

He said:

“Somebody will have an iPhone on it.”

The band will enter the studio to record one or multiple songs in the near future, and the long-absent Andy Taylor will be featured in their new work. The wait for the Duran Duran comeback with the guitarist has begun for their fans.
