Alice Cooper revealed details about his upcoming album with his original band members during a recent interview with Z93 The Rock Station.
He discussed the natural reunion with his former bandmates. The group has maintained contact and collaborated occasionally since their 1974 separation.
“Well, the funny thing was when we disbanded in ’74, that was not like a divorce; that was a separation. And we all stayed in touch with each other,” Cooper said. “Everybody did their own music. Dennis worked a lot with Blue Öyster Cult and things like that. And so on the last four Alice Cooper albums, they played on two or three of the songs.”
The decision to create a full album together emerged organically. Original producer Bob Ezrin also joined the project.
“And finally I just said, ‘Why don’t we just do an album?’ And Bob Ezrin said, ‘I’ll do it.’ He did all the original ones with us,” Cooper continued. “And the great thing was it felt like no time had gone past us. This album sounds like the album that should have come out right after ‘Billion Dollar Babies’. We didn’t try to make it sound like the ’70s, we didn’t try to make it sound like anything — it was just exactly what would’ve happened in 1975. So I’m really proud of the album. It’s just really a clever album.”
The upcoming release represents their first full album collaboration since the 1974 separation.
This historic reunion assembles the surviving members of the original lineup. They are creating their first studio album in over five decades.
Consequence revealed the new album’s title as “The Revenge of Alice Cooper.” The project features vocalist Alice Cooper, guitarist Michael Bruce, bassist Dennis Dunaway, and drummer Neal Smith. The release is scheduled for July 25th.
The project marks a significant milestone for the band. Their last collaboration, “Billion Dollar Babies,” came out in 1973. Vinyl Me Please noted the album’s major commercial success. It produced hit singles including “No More Mr. Nice Guy” and “Elected.”
Blabbermouth reported the new album will feature 14 original songs plus two bonus tracks. This substantial offering arrives after fans’ five-decade wait for the reunion.
The collaboration bridges the gap between the band’s classic era and the present. It maintains their signature sound while launching their creative partnership into a new chapter.
