After 25 years, Aerosmith’s rock ‘n’ roller coaster spot goes to the Muppets.

It was announced that the Muppets will replace Aerosmith on the ride. This change also coincides with the closing of the MuppetVision 3D attraction at Hollywood Studios.

This news is disappointing for rock fans, but Aerosmith had a great 20-plus-year run at Disney. Since the band retired from touring this year, it makes sense for the Muppets to take over.

There were rumors that the Muppets would take over the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, especially after the show ‘The Muppets Mayhem’ aired on Disney+ last year. Tommy Lee from Mötley Crüe appeared in the promo.

Co-creator of ‘The Muppets Mayhem’ on Disney+, Jeff Yorkes, responded to a rumor article, saying at the time, “Not gonna lie– this was absolutely part of our original pitch and is another piece of this dream. Fingers-crossed that it happens.”

The show features Dr. Teeth’s band, which seems like a good replacement for Aerosmith. While fans might wish for a real rock band, the Muppets and drummer Animal are still great.

Disney teased that the Muppets will host a rock music festival on the ride. They said, “The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!” No official date for the closure of the Aerosmith version has been set, so fans still have time to ride it before the change.

The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster with Aerosmith opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida on July 29, 1999. A second version opened in France in 2002 but was later changed to Avengers Assemble: Fight Force.

The ride features three loops, two rollover loops, and a corkscrew. It reaches speeds of nearly 60mph while playing classic Aerosmith songs like ‘Walk This Way’ and ‘Sweet Emotion.’
