Whitesnake guitarist Adrian Vandenberg once again reflected on his relationship with his bandmate David Coverdale. The relationship between the two rockers has been a topic of interest through the years, and most recently, it was mentioned in an interview with Chuck Shute.

During the recent interview, the guitarist revealed that Coverdale took input from him in the band’s earlier shows:

“David mainly took input from me, mainly music-wise. But we also talked about where to go [as in] direction. The thing with me is I was used to running my own band, unlike any other player who had ever been with Whitesnake. So David relied on me; he could rely on me when David was at rehearsals, or he came in late or whatever. I was used to working with a band and to running a band.”

Vandenberg then described his friendship with Coverdale and explained the dynamics between the two:

“So David told me over the years, it was comfortable for him to know that I’m experienced with that, and as people know, we work great together on a music bit, and we’re still in touch. We became very good friends instantly, even before I was in Whitesnake, and when we did the recording sessions for ‘Here I Go Again,’ we spent a lot of time together. We share the same kind of humor.”

The guitarist ended the conversation by mentioning having lived with the frontman for a certain amount of time. He told:

“I lived with David in David’s house for like almost a year, twice. So in the evening, we would watch Monty Python and Fawlty Towers and Blackening and all kinds of humor or movies or whatever. We had great times together, and whenever we are together, we still have those times.”

Last year, Vandenberg also shared his thoughts on Coverdale and reflected on their partnership, referring it as ‘super-marriage.’ The guitarist earlier said that the two had an amazing songwriting partnership and that they were great friends while working together.
