Current Queen frontman Adam Lambert recently spoke to Forbes about channeling Freddie Mercury and whether or not he ignores his work with the band.
While maintaining his career with Brian May and Roger Taylor, and paying his tributes to the late frontman, he is also working on his own solo career. During the recent interview, he explained if he has been ignoring his work with Queen. The singer said of his work and touring:
“I’m not consciously making a decision to ignore the fact that I work with Queen. But at this point it’s been ten years touring with them. It’s part of who I am, fully. It’s a part of my identity. It’s a part of my musical identity. I’ve learned a lot from them and being on the road with them.”
The frontman clarified that it’s not something that he constantly thinks about, but rather an instinct:
“I think there’s a certain amount of it that’s purely instinctual. It’s one of those things where if you end up thinking too much about it, it’s not really coming from the right place. As I’ve matured and I gotten more experience in this business, I’m able to trust my instincts more and more.”
Including Lambert’s time with the band, Queen has been around for more than 50 years. This eventually led to having talks about retirement, for which Lambert is sure it’s not a close call and that there is more to come.
Lambert’s music journey continues, and in addition to his latest album, ‘High Drama,’ he recently released various remixes of his song, ‘You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real).’ You can listen to them below.
