Tool guitarist Adam Jones called out a drummer for mocking Metallica’s Lars Ulrich in an Instagram video.

Drummer Tom Chambers posted a video that mimicked Lars Ulrich’s drumming style. He attempted to play Tool’s “Vicarious” while mocking Ulrich’s abilities.

“Lars plays ‘Vicarious’ by Tool! Everything is 4/4 if you try hard enough,” Chambers wrote in his video caption. This prompted Jones to defend the Metallica drummer.

“Ok, I’ll say it. You’re very disrespectful and you should be licking Lars’ boots,” Jones commented on the video.

Chambers offered a simple apology in response: “Okay, I’m sorry.”

The incident demonstrates the strong respect professional musicians hold for Ulrich’s contributions to metal music. This support persists despite occasional criticism of his drumming style.

Kiddle Biography revealed Ulrich’s role extends beyond drumming. He helped establish Metallica in 1981 and pioneered the thrash metal movement as a founding member.

Ultimate Metallica documented his early musical journey. His drumming style evolved from aggressive thrash beats in early albums like “Kill ‘Em All.” He later adopted a more refined approach after the band’s self-titled 1991 album.

Loaded Radio highlighted Ulrich’s broader influence beyond music. He earned induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009. His native Denmark later knighted him with the Order of the Dannebrog in 2017, recognizing his cultural impact.

Ulrich’s technical proficiency shines in complex Metallica compositions like “One” and “Master of Puppets.” These songs showcase his talent for blending speed with intricate timing changes. This mastery explains why respected musicians like Jones actively defend his legacy in the industry.
