Alex Van Halen Shares Heartbreaking Message About Eddie

Alex Van Halen shared a photo with his late brother, Eddie Van Halen, on his own birthday.

The drummer took to Instagram and wrote the hashtag ‘#VanHalenForever’ with the words in the photo:

“Wish you were here.”

Alex’s Other Posts For His Brother

Alex has mostly stayed away from public attention since Eddie passed away in October 2020. This year, he also posted on social media in January for Eddie’s birthday. He shared one of his other pictures with his brother and wrote:

“We miss you.”

In 2021, the drummer posted a message on his birthday, which was his first one without Eddie. In a post by the Van Halen News Desk, Alex commented:

“First birthday without you, Ed. The view from my drum set will never be the same. VH forever!”

Eddie Van Halen died in Santa Monica, California. The guitarist had stage four lung cancer. The cancer spread to his spine and brain and led to his death at 65. The death certificate listed a cerebrovascular event as the immediate cause, with pneumonia, myelodysplastic syndrome, and lung cancer as underlying causes.

The Drummer Has An Upcoming Book

Meanwhile, Alex has been preparing to release his new autobiography, ‘Brothers.’ The 384-page book will come out on October 22 from HarperCollins. It will be priced at $32.00. It will also be available as a 720-minute audiobook and an ebook. Details about the book have been limited until now, but the Van Halen News Desk released the official blurb from Alex in February. The musician stated:

“I was with him from day one. We shared the experience of coming to this country and figuring out how to fit in. We shared a record player, an 800-square-foot house, a mom and dad, and a work ethic. Later, we shared the back of a tour bus, alcoholism, the experience of becoming famous, of becoming fathers and uncles, and of spending more hours in the studio than I’ve spent doing anything else in this life. We shared a depth of understanding that most people can only hope to achieve in a lifetime.”

Former Van Halen members, Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar, will honor the Van Halen legacy with a tour in the summer. Anthony recently said he would want Alex to join them but Wolfgang Van Halen is uncertain about Alex’s desire to play without Eddie.
