In a recent interview with Kerrang!, Zakk Wylde shared a humorous story about an injury during the Pantera celebration tour.

“I broke my hand when we were doing the Pantera celebration, doing the roulette wheel for the meet and greets,” Wylde explained. “I spin the wheel, and if they win… well, everyone’s a winner all the time.”

“Anyway, the ball bounced out, I went to go grab it, and I smashed my hand on the table and broke it,” he continued. “I played with three fingers for the rest of the tour – a month and a half!”

“I think that was Dime having fun at my expense,” Wylde joked about late guitarist Dimebag Darrell. “It’s already hard enough to play his stuff. He must have been like, ‘I’ll just add this to the mix for the comedy…'”

The guitarist’s lighthearted approach demonstrates his deep connection to Pantera’s legacy and his friendship with Dimebag Darrell.

Loudwire reports that Wylde joined forces with Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante for the Pantera reunion tour. They performed alongside original members Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown throughout 2023.

For Wylde, this tour represents more than a performance opportunity. Guitar World highlights his perspective on the reunion. He sees it as a tribute to Dimebag Darrell rather than an attempt to replace him.

Wylde dedicated significant practice time to master Dimebag’s iconic guitar parts. His commitment stemmed from a desire to properly honor his friend’s legacy.

Fan reactions to the reunion have shown mixed sentiments. However, many supporters value Wylde’s participation. His close friendship with Dimebag and guitar expertise have earned him respect among the fanbase.
