Yungblud recently won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance for his cover of ‘Changes’. He delivered an emotional acceptance speech that celebrated rock music’s resurgence, as reported by Grammys.

The acceptance speech was deeply personal. It focused on Yungblud’s relationship with his idol Ozzy Osbourne and his dedication to the rock genre.

“To grow up loving an idol who helps you figure out your identity not only as a musician but also as a man is something that I’m truly grateful for,” Yungblud said. “For then to get to know them and form a relationship with them and honor them at their final show and then receive this, the cost of it is something I and all of us are finding so strange to comprehend. We f*cking love you, Ozzy.”

The artist continued to acknowledge his collaborators and the significance of the moment for rock music.

“We would all like to thank Sharon, Jack, Kelly and Aimee for this opportunity, everyone at the Back to the Beginning show,” he continued. “The whole band with me right now are six generations who came together in the name of our genre, in the name of Sabbath and the name of Ozzy Osbourne.”

Yungblud then made a bold declaration about rock music’s future while thanking his supporters.

“I want to thank my team and everyone on all their teams. I deeply love this genre. It’s all I’ve ever known,” he said. “I want to dedicate this to everyone in the guitar shop I grew up in and everyone in a guitar shop or a bedroom with a dream. Rock music is coming back. Watch out pop music, we’re gonna f*ckin’ get ya.”

The speech concluded with a heartfelt tribute to Ozzy Osbourne and his lasting influence.

“The last time I saw Ozzy Osbourne, you asked if there’s anything you could do for me. I answered the music was enough and I can safely say on behalf of all of us that still stands now and will forever,” he said. “You’ll be with me every time I’m nervous and onstage at every show. God bless rock music and god bless f*cking Ozzy Osbourne.”

The Grammy win represents the culmination of a meaningful relationship between Yungblud and the late rock legend that extended far beyond music.

Good Morning America reported that after their initial meeting, the duo fostered a meaningful relationship. Ozzy Osbourne even appeared in Yungblud’s music video for “The Funeral.” This collaboration showcased the deep bond between the veteran rocker and the young artist who looked up to him as both a mentor and friend.

The Grammy ceremony itself was particularly emotional. Unilad noted that Sharon Osbourne was moved to tears as she joined Yungblud on stage to accept the award. The moment underscored the deep connection between the families and highlighted how Yungblud had become part of the Osbourne legacy through his genuine relationship with Ozzy.

Ultimate Classic Rock revealed that Yungblud embraced Sharon Osbourne onstage before accepting the Grammy, demonstrating the personal nature of this achievement. The award was presented at the Grammys Premiere Ceremony on February 1, 2026, ahead of the main broadcast. This made it one of the most touching moments of the evening.

The performance that earned Yungblud this recognition was recorded live during Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s final concert, the Back to the Beginning benefit concert, in July 2025. Yungblud performed the song alongside collaborators Nuno Bettencourt, Frank Bello, and Adam Wakeman. This created a multi-generational tribute that honored both the original song and Ozzy’s lasting impact on rock music.
