Yes announced that they have postponed their upcoming UK and EU “Fragile” tour due to guitarist Steve Howe requiring an essential operation. The band shared an official statement on Instagram.
The band’s announcement explained the reasoning behind the postponement and provided details about rescheduling plans.
“The upcoming YES ‘Fragile’ UK and EU Tour, due to commence on 22nd April, has had to be postponed as guitarist Steve Howe requires an essential operation that requires recovery time,” the band stated. “This decision has been made to ensure that Steve can return to the stage in full health and deliver the performances that fans deserve.”
The statement also addressed ticket holders and future tour plans.
“We are working hard to reschedule the UK and EU shows to a later date, with full details to be announced after Easter,” they continued. “Please retain your tickets as they will be valid for the rescheduled dates. Tour dates currently being arranged for later in 2026 will proceed as planned. Steve Howe and YES would like to thank their UK fans and hope for their continued support at this time.”
The postponement affects shows that were scheduled to begin on April 22nd. Later 2026 tour dates remain unaffected.
The postponement represents a significant disruption to what was planned as a comprehensive celebration of one of progressive rock’s most influential albums.
Louder Sound reported that the tour was originally scheduled to run from April 22 through May 4. Shows were planned at Glasgow and would conclude with performances at London’s Palladium. The Fragile tour was designed to feature the complete 1971 album that helped establish Yes as pioneers of progressive rock. It would also include selections from their extensive catalog including material from their recent release Mirror To The Sky.
Blabbermouth noted that the band’s official statement was released on April 2, 2026. The statement emphasized their commitment to prioritizing Howe’s complete recovery to ensure high-quality performances for their dedicated fanbase. The timing of the announcement, just weeks before the scheduled tour start, underscores the urgent nature of Howe’s medical situation.
The current Yes lineup features Steve Howe on guitar alongside Geoff Downes on keyboards, Jon Davison on vocals, Billy Sherwood on bass and guitar with vocals, and Jay Schellen on drums. KSHE 95 highlighted that Howe’s role as the band’s primary guitarist makes his presence essential for the intricate musical arrangements that define Yes’s progressive rock sound. This is particularly important for a tour celebrating the complex compositions found on Fragile.
Guitar World confirmed that while the UK and European dates have been postponed, other tour dates being arranged for later in 2026 will proceed as planned. This suggests that Howe’s recovery timeline aligns with the band’s longer-term touring commitments. The rescheduling efforts demonstrate Yes’s dedication to fulfilling their obligations to fans while ensuring their legendary guitarist can perform at full capacity.
