Wolfgang Van Halen finally broke his silence against bandmate David Lee Roth.

In a recent interview with The Morning X With Barnes & Leslie, Wolfgang discussed his relationship with Roth and commented on his public disses against him.

Despite all the disses, Wolfgang is apparently ‘honored.’ When asked why he thinks his bandmate would call him out in such a ‘vile fashion,’ he replied with the following:

“I guess I’m honored he even thinks about me as much as he seems to. I guess you have to take what he says with a grain of salt considering he also said that he wrote ‘Eruption’ and came up with the Frankenstein [Eddie Van Halen’s red white and black striped guitar]… He said he wrote all the solos that Dad wrote.”

In his words, the next victim in the Van Halen drama is him given that his father is no longer around:

“I guess that’s all I can say. I seem to have been born into this Van Halen drama that has come way before me. And I guess now that my dad isn’t here to be a target, I guess he went to the next best thing.”

The Origin Of The Disses

The argument initially started when Wolfgang alleged that his only record with the band, ‘A Different Kind Of Truth,’ was absent from major streaming services due to Roth’s dislike for it. After Wolfgang’s statement, Roth shared a video titled ‘This Crazy Kid..,’ where he criticized the bassist for ejecting his guests from a New York performance during the last tour. Roth also asserted that Wolfgang accused the singer of not giving him attention on stage during their joint tour. Sometime later, Roth shared an additional video, where he included an apology, only to later turn out to be fake.

Why WVH Remained Silent

Known to address controversial opinions openly on social media, the rocker’s silence on the disses came as a surprise. Despite DLR’s strong remarks in both videos, Wolfgang chose to stay silent, marking it as the first instance where Wolfgang has refrained from responding after a heated argument among rockers. The possible reason behind his silence was thought to be the inclusion of Alex Van Halen in DLR’s statements.

Even after his initial attacks, Roth kept continuously attacking Wolfgang.

Wolfgang’s Indirect Response To Roth

Although he had not directly addressed the issue with Roth until more recently, Wolfgang responded to the drama comments a few times. During an interview with 94.3 The Shark Radio, Wolfgang discussed the touring band and the drama in the band, where he stated that the things he has been a part of have affected the way the band operates. In a more recent interview, the host mentioned his favorite Mammoth WVH song being ‘I’m Alright,’ who then mentioned the ongoing feud. He told Wolfgang:

“[The song] is kind of like your little middle finger to all of the naysayers, and I gotta give you mad props, man. Being from New York, we know how to hold our own and how to get back at people, and I would just say that I would just not mess with you ever on any social media platform.”

Following the host’s mention of the song as a gesture aimed at the ‘naysayers,’ the singer nodded with a smile. Given that he has refrained from responding to Roth’s social media attacks, this gesture was one way of concluding the feud.
