William DuVall recently discussed the future of Alice In Chains’ music. He provided his perspective following previous comments from bandmate Jerry Cantrell in a statement shared on Loudwire.

DuVall addressed what lies ahead for the band when asked about Alice In Chains’ future plans.

“I don’t know,” DuVall said. “I mean, we’ll have to, we’ll just have to see, you know? We’ll get together at some point I’m sure and see what’s going on.”

His comments follow earlier statements from Jerry Cantrell in September. Cantrell had outlined the band’s current situation and potential plans.

“We’re just wrapping the ‘I Want Blood’ chapter, then I’ll take the winter off and see where we’re at,” Cantrell had said. “We intended to work but had a little bit of a health scare with Sean (Kinney, drummer), so we had to cancel some shows. We also had a tour planned for, like, right now that kind of fell through.”

Cantrell continued, “So we had some bad luck; we planned on doing much more this year, but it just didn’t work out. We’ll take a look at it again probably early next year and figure out what we’re gonna do, whether go in and make another record or do some shows — or both.”

The band’s future remains uncertain. DuVall has been keeping busy with other musical projects during this period of uncertainty.

Chaos Zine reported that DuVall recently contributed vocals to Metal Allegiance’s new single “Black Horizon.” This marks their first original track since 2018. The collaboration showcases DuVall’s continued involvement in the metal community beyond Alice In Chains.

“I was pleasantly surprised and absolutely honored to be asked to contribute to this song and I’m very happy with the result,” DuVall said about his participation in the Metal Allegiance project.

Alice In Chains has maintained a steady lineup since DuVall joined as co-lead vocalist in 2006. He works alongside Jerry Cantrell, Mike Inez, and Sean Kinney. Last.fm noted that the band last released their sixth studio album “Rainier Fog” in 2018. This makes it nearly eight years since their last full-length release.

Anticipation for new Alice In Chains material remains high among fans and industry observers despite the current uncertainty. Revolver Magazine indicated that Alice In Chains appears on lists of most anticipated albums for 2026. This suggests that expectations for new music from the band continue to build.

The band’s plans remain uncertain as they navigate recent challenges and consider their next steps.
