Former Whitesnake guitarist Doug Aldrich discussed David Coverdale’s current activities in a recent interview with Appetite for Distortion.
“He’s good. I mean, he’s always busy doing projects. He’s doing a lot of repackaging stuff,” Aldrich said. “He just put out a live Whitesnake thing that got a lot of stuff of us together.”
“Last time I chatted with him… We always chat by text, but the last time I actually talked to him was sometime last year,” he continued. “It’s funny he’s larger than life. Wherever it is that you’re with David, he is larger than life. So you don’t have to talk too much. He’ll do a lot. He’ll do the majority of the talking.”
Regarding Whitesnake’s potential return, Aldrich stated: “He’s great. You never say never with anything because bands always come back. But I think he’s enjoying his retirement at this moment.”
Aldrich’s comments emerge during a pivotal period in Whitesnake’s history as the band undergoes major transitions.
Metalhead Zone revealed that Coverdale has shifted his focus to preserving Whitesnake’s legacy. His current projects include the upcoming ‘Still Good to Be Bad’ box set. He is also exploring possibilities for Las Vegas residencies.
Aldrich played a vital role in Whitesnake from 2002 to 2014. His contributions to albums like ‘Good to Be Bad’ and ‘Forevermore’ helped breathe new life into the band during his tenure.
The band’s recent touring history ended with unexpected challenges. Their farewell tour in 2022 faced an abrupt conclusion. Documentation shows that Coverdale’s severe sinus infection and other band members’ health issues led to the cancellation of the North American leg.
Coverdale maintains his involvement through legacy projects such as the ‘Access All Areas: Live’ box set. Blabbermouth noted that extensive touring seems unlikely for the band. However, Coverdale remains open to more contained performance formats.
