Matt Heafy from Trivium recently discussed a long-hidden music video for their song ‘Dying In Your Arms.’

“We did a video for ‘Dying In Your Arms’ about 20 years ago, and the video ended up so bad that our manager said, ‘We need to pull this video or your band…’,” Heafy explained. “Someone said you should pull this video, because this video is not good.”

“But now, 20 years later, we’re like, ‘We should watch this. We should show everyone what this is and see how we feel about it,'” he continued. “Because I haven’t seen this video in 20 years.”

The band released both the original music video and a reaction video. The reaction video shows band members watching and commenting on the footage after two decades.

This revelation offers a glimpse into the band’s early career challenges. It also showcases their current confidence in sharing past missteps with fans.

Research from Wikipedia shows Trivium formed in 1999 in Orlando, Florida. Heafy joined the band shortly after its formation, marking their entry into the metal scene.

Documentation from Metal Storm revealed a pivotal moment in 2004. The band signed with Roadrunner Records and released their breakthrough album ‘Ascendancy’ in 2005.

Historical records on Last.fm highlight the band’s stable lineup. Matt Heafy leads on vocals and guitar, while Corey Beaulieu handles guitar, and Paolo Gregoletto plays bass. This combination creates their distinctive blend of metalcore, melodic death metal, and thrash metal.

The release of this shelved music video demonstrates the band’s growth. It also reflects their self-assurance in their current position within the metal community.
