Trent Reznor recently shared exciting news about Nine Inch Nails’ upcoming music in a new interview with Consequence.
He revealed that the band is actively working on new material and prioritizing this project over other commitments.
Reznor stated, “We are working on new stuff, and we’re excited to work on it. We are prioritizing working on Nine Inch Nails over just taking on every single thing that comes up in the other category.”
He added, “So, beyond that, I can’t say much. But the difference between now and a year ago is the fuse has been lit, and the desire is there.”
This update comes after the addition of new drummer Josh Freese to the band. Reznor emphasized that Freese’s return has brought renewed energy and chemistry to Nine Inch Nails. The band is now focused on creating fresh music, which fans have eagerly awaited.
Nine Inch Nails have brought veteran drummer Josh Freese back into their touring lineup for the Peel It Back world tour, replacing longtime NIN drummer Ilan Rubin, who has moved to the Foo Fighters. Freese previously drummed with NIN from 2005–2008 and has expressed excitement about returning to play live with Trent Reznor and the band.
His return marks a notable lineup shift as the band continues its 2025 tour dates, with Freese performing live for the first time with NIN in nearly 17 years. The switch was essentially a drummer exchange between Nine Inch Nails and Foo Fighters, reflecting the fluid nature of modern touring lineups.
