Tool recently sparked excitement among their fanbase with a new announcement. The band teased a return to Europe and the UK in 2024 in a recent 30-second video filled with psychedelic imagery and live performance footage.

While official tour dates remain under wraps, Tool’s social media update hinted at an announcement. Via social media posts, fans were encouraged to join the Tool Army, the band’s official fan club, for early details of the upcoming tour.

This announcement follows their last UK tour in 2022, supporting their latest album, ‘Fear Inoculum.’ Prior to 2022, Tool’s last tour in the UK dated back to 2007, except for their appearance at the 2019 Download Festival.

In addition to their European and UK plans, Tool’s current plans include performances across the US and Canada, concluding in Las Vegas on February 18, 2024. These shows follow their headline act at the Power Trip festival in Indio, California, which took place in October.

Updates On a New Tool Album

Drummer Danny Carey hinted at the development of fresh music material in a March 2022 interview:

“I’m sure it won’t take us this long for the next one. We even had some stuff left over from the last one that we’ll develop. We have head starts on three or four new songs.”

Adding to this, bassist Justin Chancellor mentioned on The Vinyl Guide podcast that the band has several ideas in the pipeline and announced when they will probably hit the studio:

“We’ve got many ideas cooking. We haven’t recorded anything yet. But we’re quite busy until — I guess until after the spring of next year touring. So once that’s done, we’re gonna get back in the studio and knuckle down and put some of it together. We’ve already had a few pretty decent sessions of writing. So we’ve got the ingredients in place. We’ve just gotta really bang it out and spend that time when we’re not touring.”

This news follows the 13-year gap between their albums ‘10,000 Days’ (2006) and ‘Fear Inoculum’ (2019).

The News Received Backlash From Maynard James Keenan

In a recent discussion with Loudwire, Maynard James Keenan expressed reservations about prematurely announcing new projects. Keenan touched upon the irresponsible nature of this move, saying:

“I never mention anything until we actually have it in our hands because every time I say it out loud, it runs farther away, like ‘Groundhog Day.’ To get people wound up and excited about something that doesn’t exist, I think it’s irresponsible.”

The updates follow the 13-year gap between their albums ‘10,000 Days’ (2006) and ‘Fear Inoculum’ (2019), so it’s been a long time since Tool came up with something new for the fans.

Keenan On Tool’s Power Trip Festival Show

Back in September, Keenan also shared his thoughts on the challenges of performing with both Tool and Puscifer at events like the Power Trip festival, where they shared the stage with other names such as AC/DC and Metallica. When reminded about the show, he frankly said:

“Thank you for reminding me. Panic setting in. Yeah, it’s going to be a mess.”

He then revealed his concerns about performing with those big names on the same stage:

“It’s overwhelming to be put on the same list with those people. All you can really do is not worry about it — just kind of do what you do and try to do it the best you can so that you don’t look like a clown next to these superstars.”

If you’re a Tool fan, stay tuned for new announcements and consider joining the Tool Army for updates on the band’s future plans.
