Maynard James Keenan Has Bad News For Tool Fans

Maynard James Keenan recently discussed why bandmate Justin Chancellor’s announcement regarding Tool was ‘irresponsible’ while talking to Loudwire.
Chancellor recently signaled that Tool is on their way to the studio to make their next album as soon as possible. However, it seems like Keenan was not pleased with his bandmate’s decision to update fans about what Tool might be doing.
Why Keenan Considered Chancellor’s Update Irresponsible
The singer decided to refute Chancellor’s words about an album-in-the-works, saying that nothing was clear regarding the band’s future or what they might release:
“I never mention anything until we actually have it in our hands because every time I say it out loud, it runs farther away, like ‘Groundhog Day.'”
He then mentioned why the bassist’s update about Tool’s current whereabouts and what they were working on was ‘irresponsible:’
“To get people wound up and excited about something that doesn’t exist, I think it’s irresponsible.”
Tool’s Latest Release Was In 2019
The band’s latest studio album, ‘Fear Inoculum,’ was released in 2019, and fans have grown used to waiting for updates. So perhaps Chancellor’s words about the currently ‘non-existent’ album were a nice surprise for their fanbase.
However, Keenan does not seem keen on discussing Tool’s next project, as he believes giving any updates might excite fans for something that ‘doesn’t exist’ for the time being and could even ‘jinx’ the process. So, if you’re a Tool fan, well, you should have your fingers crossed for further updates.
Until then, you can listen to their latest album below.
