Maynard James Keenan Talks About Tool Co-Headlining With AC/DC

In a recent chat backstage at ‘Welcome to Rockville 2023′ with Danny Wimmer Presents’ ‘Power Hour,’ Tool’s Maynard James Keenan opened up about feeling overwhelmed about playing with two of his bands and the Power Trip festival in October along side other household names.

When asked how he feels about Tool and Puscifer playing the same weekend, the singer replied:

“Thank you for reminding me. Panic setting in. Yeah it’s going to be a mess.”

Looking ahead for the Power Trip festival, when asked how he feels about performing alongside bands like AC/DC and Metallica, James said:

“It’s overwhelming to be put in the same list with those people. All you can really do is not worry about it — just kind of do what you do and try to do it the best you can so that you don’t look like a clown next to these superstars.”

Maynard also mentioned how he prepares himself physically and mentally to perform on these big stages for multiple nights by adding:

“[I] kind of, gage it on my back yeah you know your knees, your back your, your neck, you get up there in age and it can be trying. So there’s a lot more prep that goes on trying to get out on the road, make sure you’re in shape for it and prepared for it. But I enjoy it still, I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t.”
