In the latest episode of This Is The Worst Podcast, Tommy Lee’s wife Brittany Lee talked about their life after the fires in Los Angeles and how they have been dealing with it. Brittany shared a few days ago on Instagram that they can’t return to their home because they live close to the area. Now during the chat, she detailed how she and Tommy have been holding up.
“You let me borrow clothes, and I’m washing them, I put stain stick on it but [there’s ash] everywhere. The whole house is covered,” Brittany revealed. “There was ash in the pond. So they’re going to have to do some crazy sh*t now to that to fix it.”
She also spoke about how the fire had impacted Tommy’s precious bonsai trees. “The other thing that’s really sad is the bonsai trees, they’re not getting water because they turned everything off now. Poor Tommy, this is so sad. He has bonsai trees that are like 150 years old and they’re not getting water. Look, we’re grateful, we have our home, what can we say? We have ourselves, we have the dogs, so that’s a huge win. I have to just be thankful.”
Brittany also shared her concerns about their safety. “I’m scared to go back because we checked our water on WaterforLA.com and they’re like, ‘You can’t drink it at all.’ You can’t even boil it. You can’t put boiling water on a stove and put macaroni in it, none of that for as long as they say. I make a lot of pasta. They also want us to wear n95 masks around that area because we’re right next to it. So top of my hill is all charred and it’s just crazy.”
The couple is also being advised not to bathe unless they open all the windows in their bathrooms due to contaminants in the water. “So it’s going to be a really weird thing when I get back and then they’re telling us that we shouldn’t bathe in it either unless we open all the windows in our bathrooms because there’s particulate in the water. Normally I guess they’re able to filter stuff out, but it’s so much. Then they’re also saying, ‘Don’t open your windows because they’re in the air and you need to run air purifiers.’ So I’m like, ‘What do we do? What do we do or not?’ I don’t know. The win is our house is here and we’re so grateful. I’m so grateful we were able to save our fish and I’m so grateful we were able to have the dogs and have a place to stay.”
Recent wildfires in Los Angeles have damaged the homes of several rock musicians, including Scott Ian, Brad Wilk, and Joe Bonamassa, forcing many to evacuate. Brittany previously shared on Instagram, “We were evacuated last night. The fire is 0% contained. Praying for a miracle.”
While the immediate danger has eased, more Santa Ana Winds are expected very soon, raising concerns of further damage. Authorities worry the death toll may rise as rescue efforts continue. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has received over 150 tips about the cause of the Palisades Fire.
