Tom Morello has announced that he is working on a new solo album while on a break from the band, and there will be some surprises in it as well.
The Rage Against The Machine guitarist recently sat down with KROQ to discuss the record. “Of all the records, this is the first real Tom Morello solo rock album,” he revealed.
The rocker also detailed what fans can expect to hear from the new album. “There will be some guests on it, but it’s basically going to be the twin goalposts are the Morelloean riffage of Rage and Audioslave, and then sort of my love of like Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Darkness on the Edge of Town,’ somewhere between those two.”
Meanwhile, RATM’s future is still unclear. Drummer Brad Wilk stated on social media that RATM would not play live ever again.
“I know a lot of people are waiting for us to announce new dates for all the canceled RATM shows. I don’t want to string people or myself along any further. So, while there has been some communication that this may be happening in the future… I want to let you know that RATM (Tim, Zack, Tom, and I) will not be touring or playing live again. I’m sorry for those of you who have been waiting for this to happen. I really wish it was,” the drummer wrote.
Even after Wilk’s words, both Morello and Commerford confirmed that he would make the announcements all together with the rest of the band.
“If there is ever any news about Rage Against The Machine, you will hear from all four members of Rage Against The Machine. Period,” Morello said when asked if the band was done. “I said if there is any news ever about Rage Against The Machine, you will not hear from one person, Tom Morello on the Eddie Trunk Show, you will hear it from the four guys of the band.”
Morello also said earlier that he wasn’t sure about the future of RATM. He mentioned to Spin that the band is not active at the moment, though he, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk have often worked together.
