In a recent interview with Loudwire Nights, Rachel Bolan discusses his trust in Lzzy Hale for her recent Skid Row gig.
“I knew her work ethic and I never once was concerned or worried,” Bolan told host Chuck Armstrong about collaborating with the Halestorm singer after Erik Grönwall left.
The bassist continued, “I was like, ‘Man, some of these songs are bears, if you want to take them out and put something else in,’ [and she said,] ‘No, I got it.’ Honestly, dude, the four shows we did together were some of the most fun shows of my career onstage and it was just insane.”
In March 2024, Skid Row announced they parted ways with Grönwall due to health issues. Hale filled in as the singer for four U.S. shows but said she wouldn’t join the band permanently.
“When we took the stage, ‘Slave to the Grind’ she unleashed. Unleashed that first scream. I was just like, I’m getting chills thinking about it right now. I was we’re all just looking at each other like, whoa,” Bolan previously said of their first days with Lzzy.
The rocker added, “You know, you just said something that is, descriptive that everyone has been saying, and that’s bada**. Man, it’s so perfect because she is a bada**. She’s a beast on stage, man. She’s great.”
“When you get asked to do those things, like with my Skid Row project that I did with them, you start thinking about like, ‘This is just crazy. This should’ve never happened in my life.’ You know?” Hale also told 100.3 The X Rocks in a September chat.
She went on, “To be wanted by all of these respected musicians and these people that their legends precede me… The fact that I’m getting calls and opportunities to do things with these people is just amazing. So yeah, it really blows my mind daily, and busy schedule aside, I’d rather it be that way than me sitting around my house wondering if anyone2s ever gonna care about what I do. So, I think it’s wonderful.”
Lzzy first performed with Skid Row on May 17 at Walker’s Bluff Casino Resort in Illinois. Her last show with the band was on June 1 at Hard Rock Live in Sacramento, California.
