During a recent appearance on Loudwire Nights, Matt Walst talked about Adam Gontier’s return.

“I think it’s been about two-and-a-half years,” the guitarist shared how long Three Days Grace had been planning Gontier’s comeback. “[That was] just the band talking about it and talking without him and then finally getting together and actually doing it.”

So, the talks started two and a half years before Gontier reunited with the band on stage in April 2023. Gontier added, “I can’t remember exactly what it was, but Brad [Walst, Matt’s brother and bassist in the band] and I were chatting a little bit about it.”

The singer further recalled, “And then the guys were coming through here around the Nashville area and just asked me if I want to come out and maybe sing a couple of songs.”

Walst was then asked if it felt strange for his brother to talk about Gontier returning as the band’s frontman. He replied, “No, not at all. I talked to Brad about it. I think I talked to him about it and was like, ‘What if this happened?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah, that’d be great.’ And I was like, ‘Let’s do it.’ Three years later and here we are.”

On October 2, 2024, Three Days Grace shared on social media that they were in the studio with Gontier. The next day, they announced Gontier had officially returned, and Walst would stay as a lead vocalist too, making them a two-vocalist band. They also confirmed new music and a tour are coming.

Recently speaking to 98 Rock Baltimore, Gontier reflected on his 2023 Nashville concert with Three Days Grace, explaining, “It was a little nerve-wracking, to be honest. Just before I went out there on stage, it was pretty: We hadn’t done it in about ten years, so there was a little bit of nerves there. But once I got up and just we started playing, it all came back pretty quick.”

The band will tour with Disturbed in March 2025 for ‘The Sickness’ 25th Anniversary. They’ll play at Sick New World Fest in April and Inkcarceration Festival in July 2025.
