Yungblud has announced a collaboration with The Smashing Pumpkins for a new version of his song ‘Zombie,’ as shared on Instagram.
The collaboration brings together the British artist and the iconic alternative rock band for a fresh take on the track. Both artists have expressed enthusiasm about the partnership.
“Zombie with The Smashing Pumpkins OUT NOW. Happy new year,” Yungblud said.
Billy Corgan from The Smashing Pumpkins also commented on the collaboration, explaining the band’s approach to the project.
“Yungblud’s star shines bright, so it’s been great fun to lend our zig-zag voice to his ‘Zombie’ which he’s said was inspired by one of our own,” Corgan said. “Hence the encouragement that we make this rendition as personal as possible and I’m proud to say we’ve done that; if only to honor him in return.”
This collaboration marks another milestone for both artists. It builds on their existing relationship and the success of the original track.
Spill Magazine reported that “Zombie” stands as Yungblud’s fastest-streaming solo single of his career with over 100 million streams to date. The track originally appeared on Yungblud’s 2025 album *Idols* and has garnered significant recognition in the music industry.
The new version features Billy Corgan singing lead on the second verse and harmonizing on the chorus. 98 Online noted that this brings The Smashing Pumpkins’ signature ’90s alt-rock sound to the collaboration. This partnership wasn’t entirely unexpected, as the two artists have previously worked together. Their collaboration includes Yungblud’s appearance on Corgan’s podcast *The Magnificent Others* and their joint performance at the Back to the Beginning concert in July.
The collaboration has received additional praise from The Smashing Pumpkins’ drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, who expressed his admiration for the British artist. “[Yungblud] is the whole package and so fun to be around so much positive energy and passion,” Chamberlin said.
The Grammy-nominated track for best rock song continues to gain momentum with this new collaboration. 98 Online confirmed that the video for the Pumpkins-featuring “Zombie” will premiere Friday at 1 p.m. ET. This gives fans another way to experience this unique musical partnership.
