In a new interview with NME, The Offspring’s Dexter Holland recalled the time Dave Grohl ‘stole’ their drummer, Josh Freese.

When asked about the new Foo Fighters drummer and the band’s relationship with him, the rocker responded: “He’s been on our records for 20 years and Dave Grohl stole him from us! We’re a little pissed off at Dave Grohl for that.”

However, he did add: “But it was the right choice. That’s who I would have picked if I were in Foo Fighters…”

After the death of their late drummer Taylor Hawkins, Foo Fighters introduced Josh Freese as their new drummer during the livestream event called ‘Foo Fighters: Preparing Music for Concerts.’

The drummer’s former bandmates reacted to the news with a Facebook post. “We’re very happy for, and proud of our friend Josh Freese on joining Foo Fighters. Well deserved,” the band wrote.

Freese has also played with bands like Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle, and Guns N’ Roses. A week before Foo Fighters’ announcement, The Offspring revealed that they had a new drummer, Brandon Pertzborn. The drummer has played with Marilyn Manson and Suicidal Tendencies.

In other news, The Offspring recently released a new album titled ‘SUPERCHARGED.’
