Several times before, Tenacious D’s Jack Black had revealed that Ozzy Osbourne was one of his childhood heroes and a huge influence on his music. It seems like Osbourne also appreciates the musician since he sent him his latest record ‘Patient Number 9’ before its release to get his opinion, which Black recently disclosed to SiriusXM.
“You know that we formed an alliance with Ozzy Osbourne,” Jack Black said before recalling Ozzy’s latest gesture. “He gave us a pre-listening to his latest record, and weirdly he sent over the record, and he sent over a 40-foot inflatable Ozzy for us.”
So, along with his new album, Osbourne also sent a giant doll of himself, which surprised the actor. He shared his reaction to Ozzy’s gift, saying, “We were like, ‘We can’t fit this in the back; we, we got to go somewhere.’ We went to Griffith Park, and we blew that thing up and listened to his record, which is actually really ripping.”
After receiving Ozzy Osbourne’s surprise, the comedy rock duo blew the inflatable model of the singer up in Griffith Park and posted a photo of that moment on their official Instagram account. Apparently, Jack Black was quite happy to get the chance to pre-listen to his hero’s record, which he liked a lot, as it probably also strengthened his relationship with Ozzy.
Besides forming a friendship with the Prince of Darkness, Jack Black also had a chance to collaborate with the icon for the ‘Brutal Legend’ videogame, featuring Black as the character Eddie Riggs. The game was heavily based on classic heavy metal albums, featuring over 100 songs. Ozzy provided character voices and closely worked in the studio with Jack.
