System of a Down will play three big stadium shows with Deftones, Avenged Sevenfold, and Korn.
The band announced the gigs on Instagram, writing, “It’s on…SOAD x KORN… August 28, 2025, at MetLife Stadium, with special guests Polyphia and Wisp. Artist pre-sales begin Wednesday at 12pm ET. General on-sale is Friday at 12pm ET. Looking forward to seeing you all next summer.”
Tickets go on artist presale starting Wednesday, December 11. More presales will follow during the week. General sales start Friday, December 13 at 12 p.m. local time on LiveNation.com.
SOAD took a break in 2006. The members worked on side projects before reuniting in 2011 for European festivals. They played festivals and headline shows over the next decade. The band hinted at recording a new album after their 2005 releases, ‘Mezmerize’ and ‘Hypnotize.’ However, there is no update on their sixth album yet.
In a recent interview, SOAD drummer John Dolmayan and bassist Shavo Odadjian talked about the chance of making a new album after ‘Mezmerize’ and ‘Hypnotize.’ Dolmayan said, “I wouldn’t count on a System of a Down album anytime soon.”
He continued, “It’s very unlikely that it will happen, but if it does happen, it’ll be because it’s organic and the four of us just decide one day that, okay, we don’t care about what happened in the past. We don’t care if we had differences, either artistically or emotionally.”
“We’re just gonna get together and do it, and it’ll be something that happens spontaneously. Because if we try to plan it, the anxiety involved with that will be too much. It’ll splinter the band too much,” the drummer added.
Serj Tankian also recently told The Sun, “I would say if System ever decided to make a record, it would be a fresh start in a brand new way, in a beautiful new direction.”
SOAD released their first new songs in 15 years in 2020: ‘Protect the Land’ and ‘Genocidal Humanoidz.’ They played with Deftones, The Mars Volta, and Viagra Boys at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco on August 17. This was their only 2024 show besides headlining the Sick New World Festival in Las Vegas in April.
