Stryper frontman Michael Sweet has shared the name of the band he thinks should have been bigger in the music industry.

“One the most underrated rock bands of all time. No gimmicks, no silly makeup, no tricks,” the rocker shared in an Instagram post with a picture of the band. “Just great songs, great talent and a great singer. Should have been bigger than the rest IMO. Krokus.”

As he said in his statement, the Stryper frontman thinks music is way more important than the looks and the makeup of a band, and he made it clear several times in different social media posts as well.

“I’ve always understood the importance of the Y&B. It was our image and something that will always identify us. I don’t hate it. I never have. My frustrations came from the fact that often (IMO) it seemed to over shadow the most important part of the band, the songs,” the rocker shared in a Facebook post. “I can’t tell you how many times I run into people who only remember the colors and not the music. Maybe that’s based on the fact that we didn’t really get a lot of airplay over the years, comparatively speaking. Who knows.”

“I just feel the need to explain that I wore the stripes (and wear the stripes) because of their significance. By His Stripes We Are Healed. I do however wish that more of the music would be remembered. That’s what’s important to me. Music & lyrics. That’s what changes people. That’s what lives on. The music. The Y&B was just the packaging, the music and the message was the gift inside,” he added.

Stryper are currently celebrating their 40th anniversary with a tour. The band’s next scheduled show is on October 17 in Nashville, Tennessee. The tour is to end in November 16 at North Myrtle Beach in South Carolina.
