Ever wondered if we’ll see a reunion of the legendary trio, the Police? Well, drummer Stewart Copeland recently spoke about the possibility of reuniting with Sting and the band on BBC Radio 2’s Sounds of the ’80s with Gary Davies. For fans holding out hope, it may be time to temper expectations – but never say never!

The Police, comprised of Sting, Stewart Copeland, and Andy Summers, disbanded back in 1986 after a highly successful career. They made a brief comeback in 2007 with a reunion tour that lasted for two years, but since then, there hasn’t been any talk of another reunion – until now.

During the radio show, Copeland expressed his optimism about the chances of a reunion but also made it clear that it was highly unlikely, putting the odds at a mere one in a million. This essentially means that while there’s a tiny chance, fans shouldn’t hold their breath. However, Copeland did say that the band members still enjoy each other’s company, and they get along great when they’re not playing music together – perhaps better than when they were on stage.

When asked about any chance of a reunion with the Police, Copeland replied:

“Oh, absolutely, I’m an optimist. I would give us absolutely one chance in a million. I’m not quite sure how that works out as a percentage that’s probably a 0.001 chance. That could happen.”

He added when the host said he basically said no to chance:

“We all are enjoying life so much. We did our reunion tour, which kind of punctuated the whole adventure, and we were out there for two years. Come on, you folks got enough of us, surely. We enjoy each other’s company much more when we’re not playing music together. At the dinner table, we get along just fine.”

It seems that the 2007-2008 reunion tour was a fitting end to the Police’s journey, and the band members are quite content with how things turned out. They’re all enjoying their lives, and, as Copeland pointed out, fans have probably had their fill of the Police’s music.

So while we may not see another reunion of the Police anytime soon, fans can still take solace in the fact that the band members continue to be friends and cherish their time together, even if it’s just at the dinner table. And who knows, maybe that one in a million chance will actually come to fruition someday – but for now, we can only dream.
