Steve Perry Rejoices In Outranking Robert Plant And Freddie Mercury

Journey’s former frontman Steve Perry recently reacted to being readers’ favorite rock singer in a Billboard poll, through a celebratory post on Facebook.

Billboard recently revealed that Perry was readers’ pick for the ‘best rock lead singer,’ as he had 64% of the vote; leaving names such as Freddie Mercury, Robert Plant, and Stevie Nicks in the dust.

So, the singer decided to thank the voters and his fans on his Facebook account on August 30, stating his surprise at the pick and celebrating:

“Holy sh*t! I was just told that I won the Billboard Readers Poll for ‘Best Rock Lead Singer! I’m truly stunned and ever so grateful for all the fans that voted for me… From my heart, I want to thank you all oh so much — you just made Uncle Steve’s day and the rest of made Uncle Steve’s day and the rest of my year! Thank you.”

The comments below Perry’s post also seemed supportive and were full of praises, as one fan said:

“Totally deserved! An amazing voice.”

Another one followed:

“Yes! And you deserve it! Love you, Steve! Congratulations!”

The other top five names in the list were Hayley Williams of Paramore, Queen’s Freddie Mercury, Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac, and the late Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington.
