Courtney LaPlante recently shared her excitement about being offered a collaboration with BABYMETAL. She discussed her genuine admiration for the Japanese metal band in an interview with Rolling Stone Japan.
The Spiritbox vocalist was asked about her initial thoughts when the collaboration opportunity arose.
LaPlante expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership when asked what she thought when offered the collaboration with BABYMETAL.
“I love BABYMETAL, so I was super excited (laughs). I’m not just saying that, I really love them,” she said. “The bands that performed at the same festival were all excited, saying things like, ‘Did you meet BABYMETAL today?’ and ‘I got to take a picture with them!’ (laughs).”
LaPlante went on to describe her experience working with the renowned metal act and what she learned from the collaboration.
“BABYMETAL is truly cool as people, and their live performances are amazing,” she continued. “So this time, I was really excited to get a glimpse behind the scenes of such a top-tier band. I got to see up close how BABYMETAL’s music videos are made, what the songwriting process is like, and so on. I learned a lot from that experience, and it was truly amazing.”
This collaboration represents a significant moment for both artists. It brings together two powerhouse acts from different corners of the metal world.
The partnership resulted in the track “My Queen.” The song showcases the dynamic fusion of both bands’ signature sounds. Knotfest reported that the song blends hyper pop, explosive metalcore, and electronica elements. LaPlante collaborated alongside Spiritbox guitarist Mike Stringer.
