Spiritbox vocalist Courtney LaPlante shared her thoughts on consecutive Grammy nominations during an interview with ABC News.
“I feel a little bit of pressure. But I feel less pressure now,” LaPlante said. “Because there’s people I realize that I can look to as heroes.”
“So, yes, maybe a woman’s band hasn’t won, but Lzzy Hale won it when it was a Rock category, and that’s someone I look up to,” she continued. “She did it, so I can do it. I’m trying to be more comfortable and not be so self-deprecating about my accomplishments.”
LaPlante made these remarks following her band’s back-to-back nominations for Best Metal Performance at the Grammy Awards. This achievement stands out as no woman or woman-fronted band has won in this category to date.
The band’s recent accomplishments extend beyond Grammy recognition. Their influence in the metal scene continues to grow.
Monday Magazine revealed that Spiritbox earned their latest nomination for ‘Cellar Door.’ This follows their previous nomination for ‘Jaded’ in 2024.
The band has carved new paths in the industry. Music Week documented their collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion on ‘MEGAN: ACT II.’ They also completed a significant tour with metal legends Korn in 2024.
Audio Ink Radio emphasized their role in transforming the traditionally male-dominated heavy metal landscape. Their nominations represent a significant shift in the genre.
Knotfest placed Spiritbox alongside prominent nominees Knocked Loose and Gojira. This recognition further establishes their position among metal’s leading acts.
