Sophie Lloyd Explains The Ultimate Challenge Of The Machine Gun Kelly Gig

Machine Gun Kelly’s virtuoso-in-chief Sophie Lloyd recently discussed her career and reflected on her thoughts on touring with Machine Gun Kelly. During a chat with Guitar World, the guitarist shared the ultimate challenge of gigs with the rap-rock singer.

The rocker was asked about her thoughts on switching from playing in small bars to arenas. Lloyd called it an ‘ultimate challenge’ and revealed how she initially felt on her first gig with MGK:

“It was the ultimate challenge, and I had to sort of fight through my demons and get on with it. I practiced so much before that first gig. I had built it up that I’d be nervous. I thought it would be really nerve-racking, but the moment I stepped on stage, everything melted away, and it felt like I was meant to be there. “

She went on to explain what her initial reaction was on the first gig:

“I saw all the faces and the signs and everything. I was surprised at how I took to it. I love watching everybody get crazy. The band would jump off shit, so I started doing some stunts as well. It’s been fun.”

Before joining Machine Gun Kelly’s Mainstream Sellout tour in the spring of 2022, the guitarist had only been playing in small venues and bars and was posting guitar videos on her Youtube channel and Instagram account. Since the 2022 tour, she has been touring with the singer and will continue to do so on the upcoming tour.

MGK’S next tour is scheduled to start on September 3. See the dates here.
