Mastodon has announced the departure of guitarist Brent Hinds after 25 years of collaboration through their official Facebook page.
“Friends and Fans, After 25 monumental years together, Mastodon and Brent Hinds have mutually decided to part ways,” the band stated in their announcement.
“We’re deeply proud of and beyond grateful for the music and history we’ve shared and we wish him nothing but success and happiness in his future endeavors,” they continued. “We are still very inspired and excited to show up for fans in this next chapter of Mastodon.”
The band has confirmed their 2025 touring plans will proceed as scheduled. “As we move forward, all 2025 touring plans will remain intact. We look forward to seeing you on the road,” they concluded.
This departure represents a historic shift for the metal titans. Louder Sound reports this is Mastodon’s first lineup change since their formation in 2000.
The band maintains its creative momentum despite this transition. Guitar World reveals that guitarist Bill Kelliher has already begun writing riffs for their next album.
The upcoming record will follow their 2021 double album ‘Hushed and Grim.’ This release demonstrated the band’s evolution within progressive metal.
Mastodon has established itself as one of modern metal’s most innovative and respected acts. The band has reached new career heights in recent years.
The group will continue their musical journey without one of their founding members. Their 2025 touring schedule remains unchanged.
