Ozzy Osbourne And Robin Williams’ Heart-Wrenching Bond Related To Sharon

Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne have been together for years, through thick and thin. Sharon met Ozzy when she was 18, while her father was managing Black Sabbath. When the rocker departed from the band in 1979, Sharon started dating him and taking over his management as a solo artist. The couple got married on July 4, 1982, and have been together.

The couple battled with issues caused by alcohol, drug use, and domestic violence throughout their marriage. Moreover, the Prince of Darkness has had several health issues, and his wife stood beside her husband through these challenging times. However, Sharon also had her tough times, and this caused an unexpected bond between Ozzy Osbourne and Robin Williams.

What Happened Between The Osbournes And Robin Williams?

In July 2002, Sharon had surgery for cancer. She later announced she was diagnosed with colon cancer, which had spread to her lymph nodes, so the situation was worse than she thought. These were pretty hard times for the Osbournes, as their son Jack Osbourne tried to commit suicide because he was suffering from depression which resulted from Sharon’s health condition.

Speaking to VH1 Radio, Ozzy Osbourne revealed that Robin Williams’ role in the film, named ‘Patch Adams,’ helped Sharon’s recovery. Ozzy said he watched the movie, where the actor’s character as a nurse working with terminal patients played a vital role for the family. The singer said he was forever in debt to Williams because he asked him to come over to talk to Sharon after that film.

As reported by Ultimate Guitar, Ozzy Osbourne told the following to VH1 Radio:

I’m forever in debt to Robin Williams because when Sharon was diagnosed with colon cancer, I’d seen the film ‘Patch Adams.’ I don’t know if you ever saw that film he made; it’s about a guy who was a male nurse or something in a hospital, and he was working with terminal people, and I thought, ‘What a great thing to do, and he’s a very funny man, Robin Williams. I got my agent to contact him and ask if he’d be so kind as to come around and talk to my wife, which he did. It was very nice of him.”

Sadly, Robin Williams was found dead in his home on August 11, 2014, from asphyxia due to hanging. Following this tragic announcement, Ozzy and Sharon took to Twitter to express their sadness. In his tweet, Ozzy said he would remember Williams with unforgettable memories, possibly thinking about what he did for Sharon.

Ozzy Osbourne’s tweet read:

“Such a tragic loss. I will always have amazing memories of Robin Williams. Respect and love go out to his family.”

Sharon then said the following in her tweet:

“The entire Osbourne Family is grieving the loss of a kind, funny, generous, and talented man, Robin Williams.”

So, Robin Williams played a massive part in Sharon Osbourne’s recovery period since he gave her hope and energy to get her strength back. As a result, Ozzy felt in debt to the actor for helping Sharon go through her cancer therapy.
