Nevermore guitarist Jeff Loomis recently shared exciting updates about the band’s upcoming album plans and busy touring schedule. He discussed the progress in an interview with Heavy Talk.

Loomis provided details about the timeline for new Nevermore music and the band’s collaborative process with their new lineup.

“We’re hoping the first quarter of ’27 we’ll have an album out. But, yeah, much of the songwriting has already been started,” Loomis said.

The guitarist also outlined the band’s plans for the coming months. He emphasized their commitment to both creating new music and touring.

“We’re gonna be collectively getting together in May and June and July to work on new music as well. But, yeah, then shortly after that we have another tour that starts in the summer where we’re gonna be doing some select dates with Savatage and also we are going to be supporting Judas Priest right after that,” he continued.

Loomis concluded by highlighting the band’s ambitious schedule ahead.

“So, yeah, we have a very busy rest of the year. It’s gonna be on the road and in the studio both collectively. So we have a lot planned. New music is definitely one of them,” he said.

This announcement comes as Nevermore continues to build momentum following their successful return to the stage with their new lineup.

The current Nevermore roster represents a carefully assembled group that emerged from an extensive selection process. Lambgoat reported that guitarist Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams began reassembling the band in 2024 via open auditions. The new members—Jack Cattoi on guitar, Semir Özerkan on bass, and vocalist Berzan Önen—were selected through this comprehensive audition process.

The reformed band made their highly anticipated live debut on April 1, 2026. This marked a significant milestone in their comeback journey. Blabbermouth noted that the new lineup of Nevermore performed live for the first time at IF Performance Hall Beşiktaş in Istanbul, Turkey. The show was a sold-out success, demonstrating strong fan support for the band’s return.

During their Istanbul performance, the band showcased their classic material with the new lineup. Sonic Perspectives confirmed that Nevermore returned to the stage with a refreshed lineup, playing a sold-out show where they performed classics like “Born.” The performance was later officially released as a live video, capturing the energy of their comeback show.

The band’s approach to this reunion emphasizes creating a fresh dynamic rather than simply replacing former members. MetalSucks revealed that Loomis noted the new members are not direct replacements of their counterparts. He wants this new version of Nevermore to reflect everyone in the band. This philosophy suggests a collaborative approach that could influence the sound and direction of their upcoming album.
