Recently speaking to Kerrang!, Slipknot’s Clown expressed a desire to create divine music while discussing their future plans.

The percussionists expressed that the band is in a great place right now and they’re very happy with their progress. They’ve finished their latest album, ‘The End, So Far,’ and are moving on from their record label and merchandising company. They’re planning to release new dates for shows. When the interviewer mentioned that they  seem to have many detailed plans or a busy schedule ahead, he confirmed, saying:

“Yeah. Instead of taking a couple of years off like we have previously in between each album – from Iowa up to ‘The End, So Far’ – we decided to still do our craft. And that’s what you’re starting to see unload right now. You’re seeing moments in a year take place. So we just released some dates, and it’s a small fraction of this kind of thought process [being] sprinkled out.”

A Shift In Performance Style

Clown continued, sharing his excitement about playing in smaller venues:

“Now, what’s different about that? Well, again, you wouldn’t have that if we were running like yesteryear where we just take the two years off. Time’s getting short and I don’t have any time for all this. I want to play ‘God music’ and I want to kick you in the face, and the only way to do that is small shows, things in their entirety, remembering where I came from and the way shows used to be in clubs.”

Corey Taylor’s Reflections On The Band’s Future

In a September interview with Canada’s CBC Radio One, Slipknot’s frontman Corey Taylor also made a similar statement to Clown while reflecting on the band’s future plans. He expressed their desire to create new music and added:

“It’s also the fact that we’re all fans of each other’s writing, playing, performing. We love the music that we create together and there’s still so much that we haven’t done. There’s still so many things musically that we could still kind of lean into.”

As they recently announced, Slipknot has plans for a UK and European tour in 2024 to celebrate their 25th anniversary. The tour will start at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome on December 5, 2024, and then move across Europe, including performances in Leeds, Glasgow, Manchester, and Birmingham. The tour concludes at London’s O2 Arena on December 20.
