Slash On What He Thinks About New Metallica Album

Slash loves Metallica and has a few words about their new album, ’72 Seasons.’

In a recent interview with Coffee With Ola, the guitarist was asked what he has been listening to recently. Slash said other than blues, he has been into old bands with new records. He named a few bands and shared his thoughts on Metallica’s most recent album:

“But as far as bands are concerned, mostly the stuff that I’ve been listening to are older bands with new records. AC/DC had a new record. That was really good. Queens Of The Stone Age’s got a new record. I love Gojira; it’s great. The new Metallica is f*cking amazing. So there’s a lot of new stuff in that vein.”

He also shared his thoughts on newer rock bands and compared them to older bands:

“And then as far as new bands are concerned, I think Dirty Honey was pretty cool. I think that was a really good new rock band that sort of has that old school style that’s actually pretty genuine. I’m trying to think if there’s anything else that I’m forgetting that’s come across my thing.”

Metallica Are The ‘Pinnacle’ Of Music

As Guns N’ Roses were gearing up for their double album, ‘Use Your Illusion,’ Metallica dropped ‘The Black.’ Slash appreciated Metallica’s approach compared to the ballads on his own record. In another interview, he thought any of Metallica’s albums were the ‘pinnacle’ of their genre. He explained:

“I think any Metallica album is a given for a hard rock/metal record collection. They are the pinnacle of that style of music, and they were among the first bands to revolutionise that particular style and sound. But ‘The Black’ album crossed over in a way that made them a household name.”
