Following the close of Glastonbury 2023 this past June, Simon Le Bon shared his thoughts about the festival during a chat with The Telegraph, naming it the one show he didn’t want Duran Duran to play.
About the band’s absence from the Glastonbury line-up through the years, Nick Rhodes mentioned:
“I believe they have our telephone number; we haven’t changed it.”
In response to his bandmate, Le Bon revealed his views on the festival’s scheduling:
“3 pm in the Disco Tent isn’t really where we see ourselves. A long time ago, I vowed I would never set foot in Glastonbury unless it was on the Pyramid Stage at a decent hour of the night. So although I’ve been asked to camp, to glamp, and invited to fly in and out by helicopter, I’ve always refused on principle.”
Touching upon the band’s identity, he added:
“The media always labels us, but we simply don’t fit into any pigeonhole. Anyone who sees our shows knows that Duran Duran isn’t just a band for the ’80s. We are a band for life.”
Glastonbury And Duran Duran’s Plans For Future

Currently, it remains unclear whether Duran Duran will ever take the stage at the upcoming Glastonbury dates. But the festival’s organizer, Emily Eaves, recently mentioned a few things about the possible line-up for 2024, hinting at two female headliners.
In her interview with the BBC Sounds podcast, ‘Sidetracked With Annie And Nick,’ she shared:
“2024 is still a little up in the air…and I thought it was kind of taking shape, and then last week I just got a call, and this is what happens if you wait a little longer because quite often we’ll be booked up from July.”
Meanwhile, Duran Duran collaborated with Måneskin’s Victoria De Angelis on a cover of Talking Heads’ ‘Psycho Killer,’ following her meeting with John Taylor at a party, where they ‘bonded talking about music and bass.’
The song came out earlier this week.
